Comedian Katherine Ryan has shared an insight in to how her career in comedy began, admitting she had "spicy opinions."

The gorgeous mum-of-two has starred on many panel shows, including 8 Out of 10 Cats, and she's had two live stand-up specials released on Netflix, among many other credits.

Discussing how it all began in a candid chat with OK! Online , Katherine explained: "I was working at Hooters as a waitress and the comedy club was right next door and I had a lot of spicy opinions when I was a young women of 19 and I'd get in trouble for the things I said a lot.

"I didn't want to get in trouble and be the way I was and I didn't want to annoy people so I thought I'll just do a bit of comedy then go back to being a good girl.

"But the opposite happened, and I got swept up in the comedy world and made lots of friends and I loved doing that. I found my voice there."

Sharing her advice, the 38 year old added: "You'll only find success really honing who you are and I was lucky I found it by accident."

During her chat with OK! Online, Katherine also admitted that while it has been "easier" becoming a mum for a second time due to being older now and having "more perspective," it has also been a "culture shock."

The star spoke to OK! about her adorable newborn son Frederick Ryan Kootstra, who she shares with partner Bobby, sharing that, on the whole, it has been "really good" so far.

Katherine shared with OK!: "It's a little bit of a culture shock in the home and a little bit harder than I remembered, but at the same time it's easier now because I'm 38 and not 25 like when I had Violet and I have Bobby who is the main career of me, Fred, and the home!"

Katherine and her ex-boyfriend, whose name is unknown, share a 12 year old daughter named Violet, and Katherine paid tribute to her as she celebrated her birthday not too long ago.

Sharing a throwback photo while cradling baby Violet alongside a recent snap with her newborn baby boy, she penned: “Little girl with my big girl June 2009. Big girl with my little boy June 2021. Happy Birthday, Violet - to your secret account - You are my sun & my moon & my stars.

On being a mum for a second time, the talented star added: "Now I have loads of support and perspective and I'm very lucky and privileged and I know the newborn stage doesn't last forever.

"I remember from previous experience he's going to get really big soon, so it's ok if he cries in the night, I don't mind."
