Asa Butterfield from Sex Education has opened up about whether he'd be up for doing a fourth season, ahead of the third season dropping on Netflix.

It's a big week for Sex Education fans. This Friday(!) the long-awaited third instalment of the show will drop on the streaming service, and viewers will *finally* get to see what happens between Otis and Maeve after that phonecall.

But there's another question also on our lips: after the third season, will we get a fourth? Sadly Asa, who plays Otis, is none the wiser, but would be open to taking on the role of the makeshift sex expert again.

"[I want a] Christmas movie! Sex Education-themed," the 24-year-old told Cosmopolitan UK. "We don’t know [whether there will be more.] It’s out of our hands at this point. I wish I could tell you more, I genuinely don’t know."

Asa also touched on whether he'd be open to a Sex Education spin-off, adding, "A spin-off would be good but it has to be well-thought out and really unique and not just for the sake of doing a spin-off.

"I’d love to do a fourth season, because we have so much fun on this show. At the same time we’ve been doing it for three years now, and I’d be happy saying goodbye to these characters… We’ll have to see."

Sounds kind of positive, kind of negative? We for one are desperate to head back to Moordale.

Sex Education season 3 is on Netflix 17th September.
