The Victorian premier, Daniel Andrews, has called for a 'ring of steel' to be put around Sydney to contain the spread of Covid-19 after Victoria recorded 14 new cases. 'If there is a national emergency … we need a ring of steel around Sydney so that this is not spreading to other parts of the nation … We will finish up with the whole country locked down if we don't do this properly … If it is a national emergency, then there is a national responsibility to do everything possible to contain it where it is now,' he says
