The last part of ending lockdown in England would see nightclubs reopen, and an end to restrictions on performances, weddings and other life events.
The analysis also found people infected by the Delta variant are twice as likely to end up in hospital than those with Alpha. Dr Mike Tildesley, reader in infectious disease modelling at the University of Warwick and a member of the Scientific Pandemic Influenza Modelling group of Sage, told BBC Radio 4's Today programme the government faced a very difficult decision.
Shadow home secretary Nick Thomas-Symonds said any delay to ending lockdown would be "a huge blow for many families and businesses across the country". Another 8,125 virus cases were recorded in the UK on Friday, according to official figures, and another 17 people died within 28 days of a positive test.
Oh watch the conspiracy nut jobs jump on this. 'We predicted this, freedom blah blah...' Actually, it's a NEW virus, so this was always going to happen. Nothing conspiracy about it. And let's be honest, most things are open anyway.
I think the Government are living in a house of lies and misdirection. They have built a road map where there is just one straight road and it had caused false hope. Life is never going to be the same. My must now invest in our country for the distant future not just tomorrow.
Not could will be!
Hopefully not
Keep going …..
that will give’em enough time to find another variant and prolong this bollocks even longer.
Tiny amount of hospital admissions, very few seriously ill. Covid isn’t ever going away it’s time to stop panicking and get on with life.
People just need to get a grip how is this a lockdown sorry you need to to socially distance and wear a mask for a little while longer unlock fully and we're all be paying the price for the rest of the year. Stop being so selfish.
1 more day and we don’t have to listen to yours , Sky, ITV , and all the other bullshit news channels anymore we’ll have GB News
I wouldn’t be surprised if we see more measures put in place. Remember those not vaccinated at all are mainly young adults and school children, yes they might be less likely to die, but we still have a duty of care to protect them. I’m not suggesting I want more measures though.
We r the MOST cautious country re lockdowns, restrictions etc for 18 months & WHERE HAS IT GOT US? We hv hospitals coping easy, we hv vaccine. This MYTH covid can b eradicated is AN OBSESSION. UK has been brainwashed into submission of an IMPOSSIBLE aim. ENOUGH - open up!
What was the vaccine for then?
It makes no sense that the next step is to lift all restrictions
But it’s okay for the G7 summit to go ahead with no 10 day quarantine for the arrivals and zero masks/protocols…… if you haven’t already woken up, please wake up… our country as a collective needs to stop this BS… it’s crazy, people will lose everything, it’s dog eat dog!
Goalpost moving again. The government can't expect people to live like this indefinitely when the borders remain open. They've blown it. Public tolerance is almost completely eroded
