Earlier in the week, a source close to the couple revealed to the MailOnline that Dr Alex is dating Ellie Hecht, a barrister's clerk.

"Alex and Ellie have been dating for six months now, and it's beginning to get serious between them," the insider told the MailOnline. "They're currently enjoying some much-earned time away in Cornwall, where they've been relaxing and spending time together outdoors."

Over the last few days, both Dr Alex and Ellie shared snaps of their staycation on social media. On their Instagram Stories, the new couple tagged in at Rick Stein's Seafood Restaurant and Healyes Cyder Farm in Cornwall on June 21 and 22.

In a post on his feed, Dr Alex said: "ON ME HOLIDAYS 🌞 Ok, the sun might not be out yet but I am absolutely loving getting away for some chill time 🙌 The coast is so beautiful here, there is much stomping to be done. I might have to try a Cornish pasty and of course a local cider or two. Just what the doctor ordered 😊".

It's been a tough year for the NHS doctor, who lost his brother to suicide in July 2020.

"Alex has had a difficult year, with the passing of his brother, and working nonstop on the frontline," the source told the MailOnline, "His family are so pleased to see him happy in a new relationship."
