Eamonn Holmes takes swipe at GB News quality on launch night but hints he could join

EAMONN HOLMES has shared his thoughts about the launch of GB News and hinted he could get on board in the future.

Eamonn Holmes, 61, took to Twitter to question GB News’ lighting just minutes into the launch of the new channel this evening. The This Morning presenter said that while he was enjoying the show, the picture quality was “not right”.

In view of his one million followers, he wrote: “Is it just me? @GBNEWS picture quality and/or lighting not right. Words good/lighting not so.”

Eamonn, who is currently on a break from This Morning, went on to respond to Twitter users who reacted to his post.

One commented: “But your still watching it!!!”(sic)

“I certainly am,” he replied.

Another Twitter user commented: "And so much black in the backdrop... are we at a funeral?"

"And the picture is so fuzzy Mike. Not broadcasting in HD it seems," the presenter replied.

The former Sky News anchor also hinted he could be getting involved with the channel at a later date.

Another asked: “You there too?”

He replied: “Not yet,” followed by two smiling faces emojis.

Eamonn added of the show: “I hope @GBNEWS gets a decent chance.... we need a shake up on the News front.

“May it keep all the other News providers on their toes.

“I have huge respect for TV news but this is a reminder that News is not just Westminster or a constant woke agenda.”

The launch show has sparked a mixed reaction from viewers on Twitter.

One commented: “Get on this @GBNEWS it’s top drawer… #gbnews #byebyebbc.”

A second wrote: “#GBNews already triggering all the right people on Twitter. Wonderful.”

“#GBNews looks hilariously budget,” a third added.

“Also why is it being broadcast from inside a giant PS4?”

Andrew kicked off the first show by sharing details about what viewers can expect and introduced its presenters.

During his introduction speech, he couldn’t resist taking at swipe at his BBC rivals.

He said: “We are proud to be British. The clue is in the name. While we will never hold back from covering our country’s many flaws and problems, we will not come at every story with the conviction that Britain is always at fault, usually to blame when things go wrong, generally useless.

“We won’t forget what the B stands for in our title.”
