British ISIS bride Shamima Begum broke down in tears as she described wanting to kill herself after the death of her second child.

The former Bethnal Green student was just 15 years old when she and two other schoolgirls left the UK to join the Islamic State in 2015.

Begum was found in a refugee camp in 2019 and initially said she did not regret her journey to Syria, however she later claimed she was brainwashed and asked to come back to the UK.

She has now spoken out about the deaths of her three children in a new documentary airing on Sky later this month.

The ISIS bride said: "(When) my first son died... that really hit me hard. I couldn't even mourn over him because I knew I still had to take care of my daughter and the baby I was pregnant with.

"I had to get up and keep moving there was no time to sit and cry about it.

"The next month my daughter died. When she died it was so hard because I felt so alone and felt like my entire world was falling apart in front of me and I couldn't do anything.

"I felt like it was my fault for not getting them out sooner. Even though I didn't know why they died, they just died from some illness.

"When she died, at that moment I just wanted to kill myself. I felt like I couldn't even get up to run when there were bombings. The only thing keeping me alive was my baby I was pregnant with."

Begum gave birth to her third child, Jarrah, in a refugee camp in 2019 shortly after The Times' war correspondent Anthony Loyd tracked her down.

The Syrian Democratic Forces, who are holding Begum prisoner, later confirmed that her son had died from pneumonia aged less than three weeks old.

She was stripped of her British citizenship

In the new documentary The Return: Life After ISIS, Begum said she struggled with being pregnant and taking care of her two children while fleeing attacks on ISIS territory.

She said: "There were so many bombings and there was a shortage of food and diapers and milk. I didn't have breast milk so I had to worry about every next can of milk I would need to get for my daughter."

In February, Begum lost a Supreme Court appeal to return to the UK after her decision to travel to Syria led to her British citizenship being revoked.

Then-Home Secretary Sajid Javid revoked her British citizenship on national security grounds shortly after she was found, nine months pregnant, in a Syrian refugee camp in February 2019.

At the time, she told reporters she didn't regret joining ISIS, but begged to be rescued and brought back to the UK.

She has been pictured recently wearing western clothes.
