season five is looking like a possibility as has acknowledged the huge fanbase following season four. The series follows Uhtred of Bebbanburg (played by Alexander Dreymon) and his loyal band of warriors - including Sihtric (Arnas Fedaravicius). Fans are keen to find out what happens to Sihtric following the events of season four, and Express.co.uk has everything you need to know.

Will Sihtric have a major role in The Last Kingdom season 5?

Sihtric was introduced to The Last Kingdom in season two as a Saxon slave, and Uhtred took Sihtric into his service.

Ever since Sihtric has remained loyal to Uhtred and he is one of his best friends, along with Finan (Mark Rowley) and Osferth (Ewan Mitchell).

Sihtric attempted to help Uhtred claim back Bebbanburg from his uncle and cousin at the start of season four, but the group failed.

Throughout the season he helps move Uhtred, Edward (Timothy Innes) and Aethelflaed's (Millie Brady) children to safety and hide them from the Danes.

He also supports Uhtred at the end of the season, when Uhtred tries to negotiate with the Viking warlord Sigtryggr (Eysteinn Sigurðarson) who has invaded Winchester.

In the final moments of the last episode, Uhtred split from his friends and fans are wondering what will become of them all.

The Sihtric Fandom page explains how he became Earl of Dunholm in the book titled War of the Wolf, which is part of The Saxon Stories by Bernard Cornwell.

The series is based on the books, and there are 13 books in total, with The Last Kingdom being the first book.

War of the Wolf is the 11th book in the series, so there is a huge time jump between what fans have watched in the TV series.

There is a chance Sihtric will become Earl of Dunholm eventually, however it may not be in the next season as there are still many books left to cover.

Fans of the series hope Sihtric's character sees more action in the next season, as some felt he did not play a huge role this time around.

One fan said on Reddit: "Uhtred's crew in Osferth, Finan and Sihtric. They are always amazing and I wish we saw more of them because I felt they were under-utilised in this season.

"We needed more of Uhtred interacting with them, but overall they were great."

Despite this, they have taken to Twitter to share their love for his character, with one fan saying: "If Sihtric from The Last Kingdom dies I will immediately cancel my Netflix subscription."

Another fan said: "Name a better trio than Uhtred, Sihtric and Finan in The Last Kingdom, I’ll wait."

In an interview with Fansided, Fedaravicius said he spoke about the fight scenes and praised the stunt team.

He said: "In terms of fights themselves, we have amazing fight choreographers, and the entire stunt team. They are also growing with us.

"This year, they prepare a fight scene, and we come in and they actually play it out as our characters.

"And they start adding these little ad-libs amongst themselves, that our characters would also do, which is something to behold. We do our own fights though."

He said the characters he would have enjoyed having more screen time with are David Dawson (Alfred), Ian Hart (Beocca) and Eliza Butterworth (Aelswith).

In another interview with Fandemoniumnetwork.com, he said one of the iconic scenes of Uhtred and his warriors sailing to Bebbanburg was actually filmed in a water tank.

He said: "We spent a week in a fake water tank surrounded by blue screen, and it was night.

"We were shooting, all the time we were shooting at night. It was generally was really warm, but we were under this rain machine which was like a shower machine."

Fans are keen to see more of his character in the next season, if it is given the green light by Netflix.

With Uhtred and his friends seemingly disbanding at the end of season four, who knows where Sihtric will end up next.

The Last Kingdom is available to watch on Netflix now
