Meghan Markle & Prince Harry make ‘emotional phone call’ to personally thank fan for raising £40k with ‘Archie Day’

MEGHAN Markle and Prince Harry have allegedly "personally thanked a fan" who helped raise £40k for charity with "Archie Day" in an emotional phone call.

Ahead of Archie's first birthday last month, royal fans created the #ArchieDay social media campaign to raise money for vulnerable children affected by the coronavirus crisis.

The proceeds were then donated to charities based in countries the couple hold dear - including the UK, South Africa, Canada and the US.

And now Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have allegedly reached out to one of the fans who organised the campaign in their son's name.

Posting on Twitter last night, royal fan Dani Trin claimed: "As you all know, a while ago I was contacted by Harry and Meghan's team, via email, to chat about this virtual community that has been growing over the years and more specifically about our many charitable endeavours conducted in their honour.

"During my Zoom meeting with the Sussexes' team, I was asked for my phone number and days later, I got a call from Meghan and Harry themselves."

The royal fan claimed the couple wanted to personally thank her for her role in the #ArchieDay celebration.

She continued: "This was a short call with the sole purpose to thank us all for our efforts in putting such an amazing charitable fundraiser for Archie's birthday together and also, for our enthusiastic support in the past two years.

"They both sounded so thankful, so moved and so happy for our support."

Although Dani says she was unsure whether she wanted to share the details of her phone call with the royals, she claims Meghan told her to "pass on the message" to other fans.

"I'm so humbled to have been used as a messenger to pass on their words of gratitude to you all and I shouldn't keep it a secret any longer," she added. "Because you all deserve to know that they appreciate our support so much they took the time out of their busy schedule to call one of us."

Urging fans to continue supporting the couple, she added: "Calling me was like calling all of us. Acknowledging me so personally and so directly was like doing the same to all of us."

The couple marked Archie's birthday by sharing a video of Meghan reading 'Duck! Rabbit!' to her son while Prince Harry filmed and joined in on the fun by quacking in the background.

The short video was shared on Save the Children's Instagram account as the couple urged fans to donate to the charity on their son's first birthday.

Dani previously told Harper's Bazaar: "I wanted to organise the fundraiser for Archie's first birthday, so I got a group of people from Twitter on a group chat and we made it happen.

"We never had a specific amount we hoped to hit. Ultimately, we hoped to simply help the charities and raise awareness for the projects people are conducting to help children through this pandemic."

Dani's post has racked up over 1,800 "likes" and sent fans into a frenzy.

"Dani!! I’m crying," one wrote. "So sooo proud of us all! Thank you for passing on the message."

Another added: "Wow!!!! This is such wonderful news. They have my forever support."

After stepping down as senior royals in January, Meghan and Harry temporarily moved to Canada before relocating to LA where they are believed to be staying at producer Tyler Perry’s £15million home in LA.
