PS5: All 26 games announced for the next PlayStation, from Spider-Man to Grand Theft Auto

Twenty-six games were announced as coming to PlayStation 5 during Sony's launch event for its new console back in June, including brand new titles and highly-anticipated sequels.

Alongside a first look at the console, which has been unflatteringly compared to a WiFi router from the early 2000s, fans also got a chance to preview some astonishing gameplay footage and handsome cinematic trailers.

Sky News has a full roundup of all 26 games revealed for PS5 - starting with the six we're most excited for, followed by the rest in alphabetical order.

You can join us at 9pm this evening for Sony's next showcase revealing new games, and hopefully some console details, ahead of the PS5 launch later this year.

1. Spider-Man: Miles Morales

The announcement was one of the biggest surprises of the night.

A follow-up to the 2018 game Spider-Man, also developed by Insomniac Games, the expectation is that gameplay will again be a third-person open-world action-adventure.

The previous game appeared on almost every reviewer's list of top games of 2018, with many naming it their favourite.

Now, thnks to the PS5's powerful specs, players will be able to move around a fully-rendered New York City at speed, whether riding on top of a car or web-slinging.

Miles Morales is maybe best known from the 2018 Oscar-winning film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, although the Afro-Latino teen has been a Marvel character since 2011 and made an appearance in the last game.

2. Project Athia

From Square Enix, the makers of the Final Fantasy series, Project Athia looks like another beautiful fantasy title.

The story-led action-adventure features a wide range of magical creatures, and a female protagonist in a cape navigating some gorgeously designed open-world maps.

Massive wolves with embers burning through their bodies, weird black tentacle magic (these might have been roots coming out of the ground), and - of course - dragons make it a very easy sell.

3. Destruction AllStars

Imagine Rocket League without the ball.

Destruction AllStars looks like an online multiplayer game set in a giant arena, with players driving combat vehicles and in some circumstances running around without them - battling down to the last three.

Heavily customisable avatars and vehicles, alongside multiplayer gameplay moments which will definitely lend themselves to highlight reels, should make this a popular title.

4. Stray

"Lost, alone, and separated from family, a stray cat must untangle an ancient mystery to escape a long-forgotten cyber city and find the way home," is the official description.

Yes, you play as a cat in this third-person adventure game that allows the feline to interact with the environment in a range of different ways, from being stealthy to annoying the robots - including a small flying drone called B12, who becomes the stray cat's friend.

The game is developed by BlueTwelve Studio in France and is published by Annapurna Interactive, which has proven itself to have a great eye for artistic games such as What Remains Of Edith Finch and Outer Wilds.

5. Bugsnax

You are what you eat on the island of Snaktooth, the setting for the child-friendly game Bugsnax, which explores the same style of cartoon cuteness as Animal Crossing - with an environmental twist.

The gentle adventure game looks like a good one for youngsters, who will need to discover the different species of Bugsnax and capture them using a variety of contraptions at bait.

6. Pragmata

The premise for Pragmata definitely tugs at our heartstrings, featuring a spaceman protecting a young girl in a weirdly glitching computer realm.

Set in a dystopian near-future on Earth's moon, the trailer makes the game seem absolutely full of character, which is something developer Capcom never fails to deliver.

Pragmata is a while away from release, due sometime in 2022, but the final shot - featuring the spaceman on the moon, with the girl not wearing a spacesuit and both overlooking the Earth - is very, very captivating.

But that's not all there is to look forward to...

20. Astro's Playroom

Is this really a game? Maybe. The platformer will come pre-loaded on the PS5 and will let players explore four worlds, each based on the console's components.

It does look fun - the idea is that the areas will showcase different gameplay styles that tap into the new DualSense wireless controller's features.

19. Deathloop

Deathloop is an action-adventure game featuring Colt, an assassin stuck in a time loop who wakes up on an island where he needs to take out eight targets before midnight.

If Colt fails to take these targets out, the time loop will reset and undo all of the assassin's work.

Making it more difficult for Colt is a neat multiplayer feature that will allow other players to take control of another agent called Julianna, who is tasked to protect the loop and take out Colt.

If players choose to play as Julianna, then they will enter a game in which someone is playing as Colt.

18. Demon's Souls

A remake of the notoriously difficult PlayStation 3 classic, Demon's Souls looks set to be even more beautiful and frustrating than was back in 2009.

When the original demo was released, it was so difficult that Sony expected the game to flop.

But gamers seemed to enjoy it, especially outside of Japan, with American critics applauding its trial-and-error combat system in particular.

17. Ghostwire: Tokyo

"Tokyo is overrun by deadly supernatural forces after 99% of the city's population vanished," says this game's description, adding: "Use a powerful arsenal of spectral abilities to fight the paranormal threat and unravel the mystery behind the mass disappearance."

We think that's enough said for this creepy first-person action game.

16. Godfall

Pitched as a "looter-slasher, melee action" role-playing game, Godfall looks like a fun combat experience.

Players take control of the last of the Valorian knights, a God-like warrior, who climbs through elemental realms and challenges the mad god Macros who is waiting at the top.

15. Goodbye Volcano High

A break from the often graphic combat-focused games which dominate the market, Goodbye Volcano High is a cinematic narrative adventure "about the end of an era... and the beginning of a love story."

The top YouTube comment on the trailer says: "This looks like a reveal trailer to a Netflix show, not a game reveal."

Perhaps a fair comment - there's no information available about what kind of gameplay will be involved, but this title is obviously story-driven.

14. Gran Turismo 7

Gran Turismo has been the dominant car racing game franchise for more than two decades now.

The next generation version seems as if it will help the series continue this dominance, with gorgeous tracks to race around and a range of exciting cars to drive in.

13. Grand Theft Auto V

Grand Theft Auto V has sold more than 130 million copies worldwide across various platforms already.

This enhanced version will arrive in 2021 and is intended to take advantage of the PS5 specs, plus bring some more features for GTA Online players.

12. Hitman III

Hitman III is the dramatic conclusion to the World of Assassination trilogy, and looks like another cracking atmospheric stealth game.

It is due for release in January.

11. Horizon: Forbidden West

The sequel to Horizon Zero Dawn, featuring the same protagonist - the warrior Aloy taking on robotic dinosaurs in a post-apocalyptic America.

The gorgeous visuals of the original are set to return, as will the open-world gameplay.

It's not clear what will be completely new - but the original was so much fun it's not clear what needs to be.

10. JETT: The Far Shore

JETT: The Far Shore features two intergalactic explorers apparently searching for a new planet for their people.

Made by Superbrothers, who were behind the indie adventure game Sword & Sworcery, JETT is likely to be full of unique gameplay elements.

9. Kena: Bridge of the Spirits

Yes, another story-driven adventure game, this time featuring cute little creatures and a female protagonist.

But Kena looks like a well-executed fantasy exploration game.

8. Little Devil Inside

Little Devil Inside is an action-adventure RPG with survival elements.

As the trailer shows, it's "set in an atmospheric, semi-open world."

7. NBA 2K21

The latest edition of the NBA 2K basketball series will be coming out on PS5.

Athough the trailer seems to be focusing more on Zion Williamson sweating than actual gameplay...

6. Oddworld: Soulstorm

Oddworld: Abe's Odyssey was a PlayStation classic, later remade in 2014.

Soulstorm is a remake of its sequel and looks like a great return to the class-conscious story of the Mudoken uprising against the Glukkons.

5. Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart

The Ratchet and Clank series was an innovative take on the platform genre when it was first released on PS2.

It has continued to blend fun gameplay with cute and friendly protagonists and will return on the new console.

4. Resident Evil 8: Village

Yes, they're still making the survival-horror series Resident Evil, and it's still very creepy, very fun, and very much operating with a desaturated colour palette.

Resident Evil 8 is a return to a more rural setting for the franchise and the trailer looks eerily beautiful and terrifying.

3. Returnal

Puns are rarely used well in video game titles, but Returnal does exactly what it says on the tin.

Similar to Deathloop and the film Edge of Tomorrow, the persistent resets are a key gameplay features.

The third-person shooter places the player on an alien planet which changes every time the player dies - which the player will do, often.

2. Sackboy: A Big Adventure

Another child-friendly platformer, this time a spin-off of PS3 favourite LittleBigPlanet.

Sackboy: A Big Adventure will feature up four-player gameplay, allowing players to either journey alone through the platform world or team-up for collaborative adventures.

1. Solar Ash

Solar Ash is the second game on this list from art house publisher Annapurna Interactive.

Players are invited to journey through "surreal, vivid and highly stylised world filled with mystery, wild high-speed traversal, endearing characters, and massive enemy encounters".

Sony did not announce a price or release date for PS5, but promised it would be out by the end of the year.

Rival Microsoft is expected to reveal more about its new Xbox Series X console next month.
