Sophie, Countess of Wessex uses simple trick to ensure she excels in Royal Family

SOPHIE, COUNTESS OF WESSEX and Prince Edward are senior members of the Royal Family. Speaking to Express.co.uk, a stylist explained how she has taken a practical yet relaxed approach to royal life.

Sophie, Countess of Wessex, 55, is the wife of Prince Edward, 56, and a senior royal. The couple married at Windsor Castle on 19 June, 1999. How has the mother-of-two taken to royal life?

Before Sophie married Prince Edward, she had a career in public relations.

After the wedding, she took on a role as a senior working royal.

In this position, Sophie will attend official events and represent the Queen all over the world.

While this is a very serious role, a stylist explained why Sophie has managed to excel in it.

Analysing her style over the years, Natasha Henson, editor of British Style Society, explained Sophie's choices.

The royal has picked confident and practical looks that could show she is comfortable in her royal role.

Natasha told Express.co.uk: "The Countess of Wessex appears to be a lover of function and great design.

"Her off-duty looks are often practical depending on her particular duties.

"However, even the simplest of outfits such as tailored trousers and a comfortable top are complemented with stylish accessories and footwear every time."

When she has made appearances in the past, Sophie is happy to recycle outfits she has worn.

This is something that has since been copied by other royals including Kate Middleton.

"She’s not afraid to re-wear clothing, which showcases a confidence in her style and fashion choices," Natasha added.

"Colour and print are other elements that Sophie doesn’t shy away from and this suggests a fun and relaxed vibe away from the public eye.

"Sophie’s off-duty looks also suggest she’s a proactive and positive person, both in royal and family duties.

"Sophie’s love of timeless looks I feel has inspired the Duchess of Cambridge.

"The royal often favoured casual attire before marrying into the Royal Family.

"However, in recent years she has tailored this look to suit royal duties but still wear relatable staples."

While the Countess is happy to show her thrifty side, she also enjoys glamorous looks and wearing designer brands.

Natasha said: "Sophie has evening and on-duty elegance down to a tee, and often sports her favourite designers such as Emilia Wickstead who blends contemporary and traditional techniques to capture the modern silhouette.

"Other favourites include Erdem and Oscar de la Renta who exude glamour with captivating dress designs."

The designers worn by Sophie, Countess of Wessex are also favoured by other royals. 

She may have helped influence other members of the family.
