Love Island has made an emotional tribute to Caroline Flack during the live final episode of the series on Sunday night.

Fans were emotional as the show played a series of archived clips of Caroline from the previous series she had hosted, after she was found dead in her home last week.

New host Laura Whitmore was close to tears as she introduced the dedication to the late TV star.

Speaking about Caroline, 34 year old Laura said: "Caroline loved Love Island – she loved love and that's why tonight's final is dedicated to her."

A series of clips from Caroline's Love Island journey were then shown while the song Feel the Love by Rudimental played in the background.

One fan wrote: “What a amazing tribute to Caroline Flack.. honestly the show will never be the same” [sic]

Another added: “i’m really cryingCrying faceCrying face caroline flack carried #loveisland” [sic]

While a third said: “An amazing tribute to Caroline Flack on #LoveIsland” [sic]

ITV confirmed they would be making the dedication hours before the final episode of the series aired.

A rep for the show told OK! online: “There will be a dedication to Caroline in tonight's final episode.”

Meanwhile, the show also confirmed the contestants who remained in the villa were told about the 40 year old’s passing over the weekend.

A spokesperson said: “The Islanders have been informed of the news of Caroline off camera ahead of the final.”

It’s the second tribute made to Caroline on the show, after she took her own life on Saturday 15 February.

The first saw Iain Stirling become overwhelmed with emotion as he spoke about Caroline in the opening scenes of the first episode of the show since her death. The tribute featured scenes of waves crashing near the villa in Capetown, before voiceover star Iain Stirling paid a heartbreaking tribute to his close friend, with his voice breaking towards the end.

“We are all absolutely devastated by the news that Caroline has passed away. Our thoughts are with her family and friends at this dreadful time.

“Caroline and me were together from the start of Love Island, and her passion, warmth, and infectious enthusiasm were a crucial part of what made the show connect with millions of viewers.

“Like many of you, right now we're all just trying to come to terms with what has happened. My only hope is that we are try and be kinder, always show love, and listen to one another.

He finished with: “Caroline, I want to thank you for all the fun times we had making our favourite show. You were a true friend to me. I’m gonna miss you Caz.”
