More than a year after delaying the Friends: The Reunion special, HBO Max has finally shared what’s to be expected from the ’90s reunion to end all ’90s reunions. After getting misty-eyed while listening to the instrumental version of “I’ll Be There for You” in its teaser, which plays over footage of the cast returning to the comedy’s original soundstage, Stage 24, in the Warner Bros Studio lot in California, we have now been treated to a 2.10-minute trailer full of snippets.

Instead of a scripted episode, the programme will feature a range of celebrity guests (and diehard fans) who will put questions to Jennifer Aniston, David Schwimmer, Courteney Cox, Matthew Perry, Lisa Kudrow, and Matt LeBlanc. Among the star-studded audience? David Beckham, Justin Bieber, BTS, James Corden, Cindy Crawford, Cara Delevingne, Lady Gaga, Kit Harington, Mindy Kaling, Reese Witherspoon and Malala Yousafzai.

Per the official Instagram account, Friends: The Reunion wrapped filming on 11 April and is due to premiere on HBO Max in the US on Thursday 27 May. In the UK, Sky One will broadcast the show also on 27 May, but at the local time of 8pm BST. In the meantime, I would strongly recommend following Matthew Perry’s boomer-esque Instagram account, which includes shots of Chandler Bing merch, and a first look at the aforementioned compilation teaser, perfectly captioned: “I’m not crying, you’re crying”.
