JEREMY Vine was left stunned this morning when a man called his Channel 5 show and called him a "c***".
The 54-year-old talk show host was forced to apologise when a caller turned the air blue while talking about the fact he'd never bought his wife a Valentine's Day card.
First-time caller "Tim from Lancashire" unleashed the vile slur after Jeremy suggested he should treat his partner better.
Jeremy introduced him, saying: "Oh Tim. You've done something else haven't you, Tim? A big present or something?"
But he replied: "We’ve been married 28 years but never bought each other Valentine's Day cards - and you’re a c***."
That prompted gasps across the studio audience and the panel of guests, who included former Dancing On Ice judge Jason Gardiner.
One woman was even heard to cry: "Oh no."
However, Jeremy handled the situation like a pro, saying sorry to anyone listening who took offence.
He told viewers: "I must apologise for the language used by that caller.
"By the way as he started talking, I thought, 'This guy’s not for real.' Really sorry for that. We do everything we possibly can to avoid any bad language on the programme.

"We know it offends some viewers. It’s darn right rude to everyone when a caller can’t control their language."
Fans quickly laid into the foul-mouthed caller, with one writing: "Disagree all you want, but to use this language makes you look stupid."
Another tweeted: "So amateur. How are they getting through almost every day? Seriously sort it out!"
