SINGAPORE — A woman who forced a domestic helper to do squats when she appeared sleepy and assaulted her over "poor" work performance was jailed for nine weeks on Thursday .
She employed the maid and paid her $590 a month. The maid started work for Nurhuda's family in January 2018 and was tasked to look after her employer's three daughters, then aged two, seven and 15, and do household chores. She started her day at 5.30am and would end work around 11pm at the flat in Geylang.
A day later, Nurhuda and her family left Singapore for a holiday and were due to return on 16 June 2019. Initially, the victim was too afraid to use the house phone to call the police for help as she thought that Nurhuda would scold her.
