Alina Chan Shu Lin, 37, on Monday pleaded guilty to five counts of cheating relating to three different incidents, including cheating involving nearly $400,000 worth of Rolex watches and almost $250,000 in loans.Chan was an employee with Royal Insignia, a company which produces ceremonial items.
Between June and August last year, Chan also lied to the managing director of her company that a client needed to apply for loans. Over six occasions, Chan took loans of $249,200 and spent the money. She has not restituted the sum. Payment was to be made through credit. The shop delivered the eight watches, worth $398,071.04, to Chan. Chan later pawned all the watches for $245,000 and used the proceeds to pay for personal expenses and debts.
