Probably for the best, given what's been happening between the two 'big brother' countries and also Singapore's neutral status. And don't forget, the western 'big bro' put our country and Vietnam in a very uncomfortable position with the eastern 'big bro' not too long ago
I think probably because Singapore does not allow open demonstrations and protests on the streets. To do so you must apply for a permit from the police but how many times has the police approved it? Even free speech at Hong Lim garden also need some form of police permit

Simply put it; they want to play by their own rules cause it’s inside their own playground. This is a classic case of the “the pot calling the kettle black”. Perhaps it could be a blessing in disguise for Singapore and none regrettable.
Singapore will give a speech if invited to the summit . Singapore will speak about multilateralism and not taking side. This is not in line with US narrative that is why it is not invited
