China had just 2,600 nursing rooms in 2019, when 14.6 million babies were born that year. Read more at straitstimes.com.

BEIJING - New mother Geng Zitong remembers vividly the helplessness she felt when she had to breastfeed her four-month-old son in public to soothe his loud cries, despite her desperate attempts to find a nursing room.

In the 30-second clip, a mother was seen trying to calm her crying baby, who was strapped to her front, by pacing around her seat while carrying a big backpack and a waist pouch. A black luggage was parked next to her. China, whose population fell for the first time in more than 60 years in 2022, has been trying to encourage couples to have more than one child by loosening birth restrictions and rolling out policy changes including cash stipends and longer paid leave days.

“What is most important is to provide support at public places such as malls, transport hubs and offices to those who are willing and able to breastfeed.” Both Ms Liu and Ms Geng said that they have noticed cleaners or other workers sometimes using nursing rooms as their rest areas, and some of them are men.

“It is awkward because I’ve to walk past colleagues whom I don’t really know - many of them men - on my way to the conference room, and their glances make me feel slightly embarrassed.”Provide more lactation rooms and paid nursing breaks for working mothers: Louis Ng

The rise of Jackson Wang and China’s quest for a global pop idolThe patriotic star from the K-pop group Got7 embodies a Chinese push for success in the west, but can C-pop emulate the soft power of K-pop? The Financial Times' Ludovic Hunter-Tilney takes a look. Worst article I have read. “But despite his patriotic protestations, he owes more to South Korea for his western success than to China” Everything they asked him he goes far and beyond to express his love for Korean culture and the company who made him who he is. He is proud to be Chinese, yes but that’s not all that he is. Why don’t you mentioned how many times he says Asians; and not just Chinese. The problem is you are boxing him exclusively to his Nationally, he is clearly a global star with a worldwide background.
