SINGAPORE — Unvaccinated students aged 12 and below, as well as older pupils who are medically ineligible for Covid-19 vaccination, may take part in the upcoming National School Games, albeit in groups of five or fewer, the Ministry of Education (MOE) said on Friday (March 18).

Previously, to play any sport, students needed to be fully vaccinated, have recovered from Covid-19, or be medically ineligible for vaccination.

MOE said in response to queries from TODAY that unvaccinated students may participate in the National School Games,"depending on their age group and the type of sport". This means that those 12 years old and below who are unvaccinated may play sports in groups of five or fewer. Some team sports involving bigger groups, such as football and hockey, have not been played in their standard formatLast year, only 12 sports resumed under the National School Games, while 17 sports remained suspended. The sports that resumed were primarily individual sports such as bowling or golf, or those featuring smaller groups such as 3-on-3 volleyball and sepak takraw.
