Trump's comments came after the Pentagon declined to confirm his"generals" claim and Defense Secretary Mark Esper supported the accident explanation for the explosion, which left at least 135 people dead, including at least one American, and thousands injured."Most believe that it was an accident as reported," he said.

"We're standing with that country. You know, we have a very good relationship with that country, but it is a country under a lot of turmoil and a lot of problems. We stand with them," he said.Earlier Secretary of State Mike Pompeo offered assistance in a phone call with Lebanese Prime Minister Hassan Diab, the State Department said.
