SEOUL - South Korea's Covid-19 tally surpassed 20,000 on Tuesday amid a growing number of patients with severe conditions in the aftermath of the second wave of infections that hit the country's capital and surrounding area, some seven months after the first case was reported.
The number of patients in serious condition has been growing at a fast pace over the past two weeks, from nine on Aug 18 to 104 as of midnight Monday. The number of hospital beds available for new serious Covid-19 patients across the country stands at 43, including nine in the greater Seoul Metropolitan area.
