The percentage of deaths and cases in ICU among vaccinated and unvaccinated COVID19 cases in Singapore

SINGAPORE: Singapore should be prepared to see its daily COVID-19 cases hit 1,000 soon, said Health Minister Ong Ye Kung on Friday , as numbers have doubled every week.

Every country that has decided to live with the virus will have to undergo a"major wave of transmission", he said, adding: "This is almost like a rite of passage, before humans and the virus achieve a new equilibrium and things stabilise." “This has largely been brought about by the vaccination programme, which has covered 82 per cent of our residents to date. The occurrences of severe illnesses are not even, concentrating mostly on older and unvaccinated infected individuals,” it added.

“But because we vaccinated everybody before we start opening up, we are able to sustain and be able to ride the wave so far." "From here on, we have to start adjusting our social activities, especially those who are senior in age or have chronic illnesses. Start adjusting, start to practice the NPIs , start to get testing going, then I think we can co-exist with the virus.”The Health Ministry also announced that 100 vending machines dispensing antigen rapid test kits will be rolled out islandwide from Sep 18.

They must also perform ART tests on their own - on the third, fifth and seventh day from the date of last exposure to the COVID-19 case they were close contacts with. Another PCR test at a clinic is required on or after the eighth day.

Numbers here very small & even nil for those unvaccinated 30. But, many are not know & unrealised how severe is the condition those hosptl'd (though not sent to ICU), if in fact Covid sickness is not severe, why those ppl still need to be hosptl'd? One needs to realize that.

Fully understand the need to protect peolle but these numbers suggest current policy is not in step with the reality. Clear case for some relaxation especially for the younger whose mental health is just as important.
