14 Mar 2021 11:23AMSINGAPORE: Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong said in a TV interview he hoped Singapore would start reopening its borders by the end of the year as more countries ramp up vaccination drives against COVID-19 infections.

"Hopefully by the end of this year or next year, the doors can start to open, if not earlier," he said.

What’s the point of Singapore opening its borders and potentially allowing in more cases of infections while other countries’ borders remains shut to us upon seeing our cases going up?

But it’s just the beginning of the year yet

Singapore's effort in containing virus while still supporting its economy to recover is commendable. Looking forward to more relaxations enabling economy pick up its growth soon.

Singapore should also consider removing the current embargo on visitors from UK, not even allowing one to visit immediate family in Singapore, given that all UK arrivals have to quarantine for 3 weeks (an extra one week) and given UK has already vaccinated millions
