According to a study by access control provider Kisi , the list looks at cities which have the most"teleworkable" jobs, given that remote working is considered a central feature of many people's lives nowadays. Indicators include the percentage of jobs that can be performed remotely in each city, as well the feasibility of working at home for all occupations. What inspired you to learn how to code and develop apps? Vincent: It was the apps and games that I could download from the App Store when I first got my iPod touch back in the day, as well as the device itself, that inspired me. Singapore was assessed to have 52. New training opportunities will also be added in partnership with the industry.06 per cent of"teleworkable jobs", with two U. cities, Washington and Austin, coming up next on the list. When I learnt that basically anyone could make apps for this platform, I knew I had to try it. New and existing technicians will be supported though initiatives by government agencies such as SkillsFuture Singapore and Workforce Singapore to help them pick up EV-specific competencies. Contributing to the city's overall score of 85.66 on the"Work-life balance" index, Singapore attained a score of 93. Richard: I started coding during Circuit Breaker, and wanted to develop iOS/web apps since they are tools that can help me bring my ideas to life.6 for healthcare -- an indicator under"society and institutions" -- and a full score of 100 for safety -- an indicator under"city liveability". Iswaran said:"Although the transition towards a predominantly electric vehicular fleet will take many years, we need to start upskilling and reskilling efforts today, and plan for the long term to ensure our workforce evolves in the right direction. Singapore fourth most overworked city On the other hand, Singapore was also ranked fourth on the , with Dubai, Hong Kong and Kuala Lumpur taking the top three places. Do you think Singapore places enough emphasis on developing coding talent? Vincent: I personally think that more can be done for those who want to start early.

This was a slight drop from the 2021 ranking , which ranked Singapore second after Hong Kong. The rankings were based on the percentage of full-time employees working more than 48 hours per working week. I was a Normal (Academic) student in Secondary school, which, back then, also meant that the computing subject wasn’t available to me (as it was only for Express stream students). In May, more mass-market EV models were moved to qualify for the smaller car category of certificates of entitlement. According to the study, out of Singapore's working population, 16.9 per cent of workers are overworked. In my opinion, learning coding was challenging until after I completed my Secondary school education. The average worker also takes around 12 days of vacation in a year, as compared to 25 days for the average worker in Oslo, which ranked first on the list. EVs generally require less maintenance than traditional internal combustion engine vehicles, but the skills needed to handle them are different.

The study, however, claims that the minimum amount of paid leave offered in Singapore was seven days. It would be much better to let those that have an interest to start early. Bern in Switzerland, and Helsinki in Finland, were ranked second and third for work-life balance. Data used for the study was acquired from sources such as international organisations, non-profit organisations, open access datasets, public surveys and crowdsourcing platforms, Kisi stated. Richard: From what I have seen, the annual hackathons like Hack&Roll (organised by NUS Hackers) and Hack for Public Good (by OpenGovProducts) are doing a very good job at inspiring the younger generation to participate and get into coding. It has several EVs in its fleet for students to have hands-on experience working with the technology. Top image by Steve Ding/Unsplash If you like what you read, follow us on .
