No mid-year exams this year, but national exams, university exams to continue: Ong Ye Kung

SINGAPORE - Schools will do away with mid-year examinations to reduce anxiety for students amid the Covid-19 pandemic, said Education Minister Ong Ye Kung on Friday .

This includes oral and written Mother Tongue language exams on June 1 and 2, which will proceed as scheduled, he added. As for year-end exams such as the primary school leaving examination , O-level, N-level and A-level exams, there is no need to worry for now. Mr Ong said the ministry will monitor the situation and make adjustments if need be.

Meanwhile, autonomous universities will move completely to online lessons, Mr Ong said. Exams will continue as online take-home assignments.
