Singapore — After a man was caught on camera using himself as a way to reserve a parking slot in Ang Mo Kio, members from the online community highlighted that there was a multi-storey carpark nearby, hence no need for such behaviour.posted a video of the incident on Jan 22, with the cam car driver noting that the man succeeded in reserving the parking slot after “chope-ing the lot for a long time.

“A lot of vehicles want to park but were turned away by this guy reserving that lot. I personally don’t think one can ‘chope’ a lot like that,” said the original poster.“And the best part is he choped for at least 5-10 minutes during dinner time,” the individual said.The man gestured to the driver, indicating he was reserving it.The video ended with footage of the BMW that the slot was allegedly reserved for.According to the post, the incident happened at Block 347 Ang Mo Kio Ave 3 on Jan 20.

Netizens commented on the video, noting the man’s endeavours were a waste of time. “Just beside got one big multi-storey carpark. Why must chope?” asked Facebook user Caleb Cheo.This isn’t the first time people used themselves to reserve parking space, much like tissue packets left on tables to reserve seats at hawker centres or public eateries.in Changi Village and refused to leave even after a vehicle tried reversing into the lot.

“I feel that it’s not fair nor right to ‘book’ public lots like this. If their family car had been waiting along the roadside for a lot, I totally get it. However, in this situation, I believe no one has the right to physically stand in the public lot and claim it as ‘reserved,’” said the individual who witnessed the scene. /TISG
