SINGAPORE: A 57-year-old man has been arrested for his suspected involvement in a case of housebreaking and theft, said police on Sunday .

At about 1.45am on Sunday, the police were alerted to a case of housebreaking at a unit located along Carpmael Road near Joo Chiat. The man was detained along Onan Road by police officers within 15 minutes of the crime being reported, said police.A preliminary investigation revealed that the man is believed to be involved in another similar case of housebreaking and theft in the vicinity.

He will be charged on Monday with housebreaking and theft. If found guilty, he can be jailed for up to 10 years and fined.Secure all doors, windows and other openings with good quality grilles and closed-shackle padlocks when leaving your premises unattended, even for a short whileInstall a burglar alarm, motion sensor light and/or close circuit surveillance camera to cover the access points into your premises. Ensure that they are tested periodically and in good working condition.
