CASE echoed the call by the Singapore Food Agency for consumers to only buy what they need and not buy excessively.

A worker feeds chickens in a poultry farm in Johor, Malaysia.

The statement by CASE on its Facebook page comes a day after Malaysia’s Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob announced that the country will stop the export of 3.6 million chickens a month from 1 June, in a bid to stabilise production, as prices of the poultry continued to soar. “We will also concurrently work towards increasing the number of chicken and related products available on Price Kaki so consumers can continue to stretch their dollar to tide through this sudden impact on our chicken supply,” CASE said.
