The match at the Stade de France, which Real Madrid won 1-0, was delayed by more than half an hour after police tried to hold off people trying to access the ground. Some fans, including children, were tear-gassed by French riot police. The crowd trouble has become a political issue ahead of next month's parliamentary elections and embarrassed France which will host the Rugby World Cup in 2023 and the Olympic Games in 2024. Amid a dispute between Britain and France over who was to blame for the situation, many Liverpool fans said they had caused no trouble, while France has blamed Liverpool fans turning up en masse with fake tickets for contributing to chaos at the stadium. Courtois was sent home after a medical examination by the Belgium team doctor on Monday. "The club has pledged financial assistance for those organisations already in high demand, and is encouraging fans to seek support if they feel they need it at this time," Liverpool said in a statement on Wednesday. Liverpool chief executive Billy Hogan has said the club wants a"transparent investigation" by governing body Uefa. "The scenes witnessed in and around Stade de France, before and after kick-off, on Saturday night will live long in the memory for all the wrong reasons. British Prime Minister Boris Johnson described the scenes outside the Stade de France, which saw some fans including children tear-gassed by French police, as deeply upsetting, while Liverpool Chairman Tom Werner has demanded an apology from the French sports minister.

"Working with the LFC Foundation, who collaborate with professional mental health services on a daily basis, the club has compiled a list of organisations supporters can turn to right now. "The footage from the Stade de France this weekend was deeply upsetting and concerning. Belgium are preparing for Nations League games at home to Netherlands on Friday and Poland on Wednesday followed by trips to Wales on June 11 and the return in Poland three days later." Liverpool have requested an investigation into the crowd trouble and also urged fans to complete a feedback form to support any investigation into the operational management of the event. UEFA has commissioned an independent inquiry into the incident, while French sports minister Amelie Oudea-Castera said they would produce a report within 10 days.. Source: Reuters .
