The worker’s party has the cheek to buy favoritism from people of sengkang after the party has appeared in court for lying? It’s like making a fool out of themselves in court n using the government’s money to buy trust after wards. Why is the WP so political n thick skin? y ar u excited abt giving handouts. u dont get paid 600k per annum for such optics.

Obviously he has no community spirits and only know how to write thesis Yes. That is true. There is no argument to make. The PA or the civil service and the Ministry support the government of the day. An opposition is not supported government of the day and hence is not the right party to give out the awards. In this case, the WP.

This is why the line between PA and PAP has to be drawn clearly. If you’re in the PA, you cannot be in the PAP, and vice versa. No double hatting. If this is important, then make it Ur reason to get more seats and to ask PAP to scrap it during election Dun recycle these things on and on And pls do important things too like asking why Pritam lie and why Faisal Manap help Pritam cover his ass Why 3 of them meet before COP

No. The edusave awards are given out by grassroots. WP not part of the grassroots so they don't get to give it out. Joker PA & PAP MPs playing bad politics! Elected Opposition MPs who won and currently in charge of the GRC sud be the ones handing out the awards! This selfish attitude and lacked of decorum will ONLY hardened SG voters negativities towards them PAPSingapore

Is it true?

sg/wdYW SINGAPORE - Sengkang GRC MP Jamus Lim from the Workers' Party has reiterated how opposition MPs do not get to distribute Edusave awards, unlike their People's Action Party (PAP) counterparts, as these awards are given out by grassroots advisers. The Edusave scheme by the Ministry of Education awards grants and scholarships to students and grassroots advisers are appointed by the People's Association. These awards are offered to students based on their character, leadership, conduct, learning dispositions and academic performance, and are typically given to students in the top 10 per cent and above of a school's cohort. Prof Lim said in a Facebook post on Friday (Jan 28) that his social media feed was"flooded with pictures of PAP MPs handing out awards to proud recipients". “For us, a GST hike would not just add fuel to the fire, it could also shock an economy that is only just on a rebound. He had received queries about why his GRC was not doing the same, with one resident telling him that the person's child was looking forward to taking a photo with the MP. A number of Sengkang GRC residents however, hoping to get a photo of their child posing with the MP, were disappointed when they were unable to do so. "As I explain to my residents, opposition MPs do not, unfortunately, have the pleasure of distributing Edusave awards, which are given out by the grassroots advisers (who are distinct from the elected representatives in non-PAP wards)," said Prof Lim. Awards at Sengkang GRC were mailed out Workers' Party's Jamus Lim shared in a Facebook post that Edusave awards at his GRC were mailed out, without the usual fanfare.

He added that if residents are agreeable, he would happily write them a signed letter of encouragement that he could distribute in an informal ceremony at his weekly Meet-the-People Session. The Sengkang GRC MP shared that he has since received a number of email queries as to why his GRC did not hold an awards ceremony, despite Covid-19 restrictions being relaxed enough to do so. The Government’s iintention to increase the GST by two percentage points was announced in 2018 by the then-Finance Minister Heng Swee Keat when he delivered the Budget in Parliament. His post, which has got more than 3,000 reactions and was shared over 220 times on Facebook as at noon on Saturday, was attached to what appeared to be such a letter of encouragement that was dated Jan 24. Ending his post, Prof Lim underscored how he is always available to meet residents. Signed letter of encouragement Lim explained that as an MP from the opposition party, he does not have the"pleasure" of distributing the Edusave awards personally."Most importantly, please don't feel that the only way you can meet and take a selfie with your MP is by studying hard and doing well," he said. The current GST rate of 7 per cent has applied since July 2007. "I'm always available for my residents, Edusave season or not, whether virtually or physically. In wards occupied by the People's Action Party (PAP), the role of the GRAs are taken up by PAP MPs in the PAP wards they were elected at, or unelected PAP candidates in opposition wards where they contested. Just feel free to reach out and touch base." This is not the first time Prof Lim has raised this issue of the Edusave awards. This, he can distribute to them in an"informal mini-ceremony" during his weekly Meet-the-People session. “We get a little more worried when prices rise because workers are insisting on wage hikes, because they are facing steadily rising costs of living. On Feb 15 last year, he made a similar post on Facebook explaining that MPs for a particular ward are not automatically granted the role of grassroots adviser, who is the person entitled to hand out Edusave awards.
