This year's public cleanliness survey has shown that when it comes to food outlet cleanliness, people are the least satisfied with coffee shops. CNA explores how they can shake off what has been a constant association with poor hygiene standards.

In response to queries from CNA, the Singapore Food Agency said on Thursday that it has inspected the stall after getting feedback and taken enforcement action for the"hygiene lapses" detected.

The percentage for coffee shops was a"significant decrease" from the previous edition of the survey in 2019, when 86 per cent of respondents said they were satisfied, the survey report noted. Then, coffee shops still fared better than wet markets.

The Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment told CNA there is"room for improvement" in some public spaces, particularly in F&B premises like food centres and coffee shops. "They should also ensure that cleaning contractors or in-house cleaning staff perform regular cleaning and maintenance of their toilets," the spokesperson said.

Try out a pilot scheme with a board outside these public toilets explaining the do’s and dont’s..the tray return scheme is a brilliant move!

It's normal singapore will get worst

Government MUST look into the noise pollution situation in Singapore. Patrons switching on loudly their portable speakers inside and outside coffeeshop areas. Delivery food people blasting their speakers both day and late at night.

Singapore born citizens are generally third world in terms of mindset. Citizens are uncooperative, selfish, very un-civic minded. This is a country has to be governed by punishment in terms of jailterms and fines.

Cleanliness Starts at Home..

NEA should really look into the toilets at coffee shops, hawker centers, restaurants.. it’s a disgrace

Because theres no toilet ambassador!

Aqil can supervise the cleanliness at toilets and hawker centres then

First of all it’s FREE of charge. Toilets in the wet markets charge per use. Due to COVID precautions measures, nearby fast food restaurants toilet is TOP choice but now u can’t.

Singaporeans have always been irresponsible, always expecting that there’s someone paid to clean up their mess. It’s “getting worse” only because Singaporeans are still the same amid a pandemic caused manpower shortage.

Consumers now should bring their own table cloth and broom to clean up after meal.👍

Prelude to new laws.

Lacking of cleaners could be...

Manpower Responsibility Quality

Poor design.
