Student Localism, a pro-independence group that Chung was once involved in before the security law was passed, said he and two other former members were arrested on Tuesday.
The legislation outlawed a host of new crimes, including expressing political views such as advocating independence or greater autonomy for Hong Kong. Beijing imposed its new security law on Hong Kong in June following last year's huge and often violent protests, with Chung being the first public figure to be arrested under it.Chung was led away from a coffee shop opposite the consulate by unidentified men, the South China Morning Post reported.According to a statement from a previously unknown group calling itself"Friends of Hong Kong", its members witnessed four men walk into the coffee shop opposite the consulate at 8.
AlwaysACowboy Disgraceful, i feel very bad for the people in China and Hong Kong especially. CCP rooted in communism and socialism. Lets stick with capitalism whit some socialist policies to help those in need. Capitalism = worst system except all the others
Good.
I hope the world knows that the NationalSecurityLaw is actually not a legal thing, but a political tool for the regime. Nothing is gonna stop the china if the world still wants to trade with China... FreeTonyChung save12hkyouths
FreeTonyChung 🙌🏻 It’s totally unacceptable for ccp to detain this young activist regarding his posts on social media. National security law has become an evil tool to oppress Hongkongers. Speech crime is now exiting in hk. It’s absolutely insane! Please StandWithHongKong
yautsimmongkml Everything Carrie Lam and her fellows have been repeating about the so-called 'National Security Law' are now officially regarded as bullshit.
Even a facebook post can secede the country. The regime is too vulnerable to any opposing opinion so they simply criminalise all dissents and intend to put all of them into jails. FreeTonyChung
