Stomper: 'This abuse of food prices is not acceptable.'

Another complaint about the rising cost of food after the increase in the Goods and Services Tax last month?wants food sellers to consult the Government and get approval before they can increase prices.

Sharing a photo of a prawn noodle stall in a coffee shop at Block 824 Tampines Street 81, he said:"The Government increased GST by 1 per cent. The food seller increased prices by $1. Now the minimum price is $5. "Same food but different prices in many areas such as hawker centres and coffee houses. I see that all have increased their prices without government approval."Those with low income such as old people are suffering and struggling with the high price of food and drinks at the hawker centre and HDB coffee house.

"I feel that the Government has to step in to do a good job. Those who abuse food prices should be fined or penalised by the National Environment Agency or the government agency in charge."
