SYDNEY: Australia's Victoria state reported its biggest single-day rise in COVID-19 cases this year, the majority in Melbourne, as most other regions in the state exited lockdown on Friday .

The shift to a strategy of living with, rather than suppressing, the virus after hitting national vaccine coverage of 70 to 80 per cent is part of a four-stage national reopening plan unveiled by the federal government in July. The national vaccination rate for adults is currently at around 40 per cent.

Berejiklian on Friday denied going against the advice of the state's health officials who, according to local media reports, wanted restrictions to ease only when vaccination levels topped 80 per cent.

Covid-19: 450 new locally transmitted cases in Singapore; 11 large clusters under close monitoringHope that we won't hit 1000 cases next week. Stay safe everyone. 😔🙏 I think the Govt at this juncture will have to be very careful of how their actions will be perceive. MOH new style of reporting may go against what MTF is advising as people may perceive that MOH’s change of reporting means “not important”. The ministry said that the cluster is primarily a workplace one, with “no evidence of spread beyond workplace and household contacts of cases”.-somehow I don’t understand this. The question is how the workplace became infected.Obviously people brought it in so isn’t this a spread
