COVID-19: Car park grace period extended from 10 to 20 minutes to facilitate deliveries via yahoosg

In a joint media release on Friday , the Housing Development Board and Urban Redevelopment Authority said that this measure begins with immediate effect at all their car parks with the Electronic Parking System.

Motorists who exit the car parks within the 20-minute grace period will not be charged parking fees. Those who park their vehicles beyond the grace period will have to pay parking fees for the full duration, including the first 20 minutes, when they exit the car parks. HDB and URA said that, with the elevated safe distancing measures to curb the spread of COVID-19, more Singapore residents have turned to online services for food, groceries and other essential goods as they stay at home.

The extended grace period will be in place until 31 May, to cater to the demand for delivery services, while allowing sufficient time for transition as demand for deliveries gradually eases. “We seek motorists’ cooperation to carry out their activities speedily and not to linger at any location longer than necessary, in view of the safe distancing measures,” HDB and URA said in the media release.Related stories:COVID-19: 150 people fined for breaching safe-distancing measures; 50 caught without masksCOVID-19: S'pore confirms record 728 more cases, 5 new clusters; total at 4,427
