SINGAPORE - To send money to her family in the Philippines, Ms Em Jei Valdez, a foreign domestic worker here for 13 years, had been using Singtel Dash since 2018.

Ms Ranita Sundramoorthy, director of retail and dining at the Singapore Tourism Board , said STB deployed enforcement officers and additional safe distancing ambassadors at Lucky Plaza on Sunday for crowd control, temperature-taking and ensuring people followed the one-metre distance rule. If they do need to run essential errands or buy food, they should seek the employer's consent to go out and return home immediately thereafter.

She explained that many FDWs are paid at the end of the month and use their rest day on Sunday to send money home. But its chief executive officer and co-founder Benjamin Wong admitted the adoption rate from FDWs had been low.

Stubbornness got the better of those in the crowd recklessly!!

They need to send money home so unless it can be made easy via an app this will happen. We need to respect there needs to support there families.

Too soon.. too eager to open in some areas. For eg. Why is there a need to open hair salon with full services? Should wait n see.. it’s not too late for phase 2 then provide with full services. Time will tell... just pray there is no second wave in 🇸🇬!🙏🙏🙏

Singaporeans were quick to condemn migrant workers living conditions but obviously, do not see the need to help their own FDWs who just want to remit monies home amidst COVID-19. Especially when it could be done wirelessly.

Why are they there.. to send hard earned money hope to their poor and needy families. If employers are that concerned why dont they go to western union for their helpers?

Geez, people get a grip! Have you not figured out the reason for the Circuit Breaker to begin with?!

Good luck to their employers

Keep this in mind: six feet apart is better than six feet under.

If social distancing is not possible, stay away. Common sense.

Oh no better arrest everyone like you didnat Robertson Quay

another cluster brewing up
