City University of Hong Kong is offering Covid-19 testing for animals, as a rising number of pet owners have been caught up in the city’s worsening outbreak.

CityU’s vet school, along with experts at the University of Hong Kong, the AFCD and the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals identified the world’s first human-to-animal transmission of Covid-19 in March – a 17-year-old Pomeranian in March. The dog died two days after release from an official facility, though the cause of death was believed unconnected to the coronavirus.
