WASHINGTON: President Joe Biden told Southeast Asian nations on Wednesday the United States would stand with them in defending freedom of the seas and democracy and called China's actions towards Taiwan"coercive" and a threat to peace and stability.

Biden reiterated that the United States had a"rock-solid" commitment to Taiwan."We are deeply concerned by China's coercive ... actions," Biden said, charging that they"threaten regional peace and stability". The White House said Biden was not signalling a change in US policy toward Taiwan, and some analysts dismissed his comments as a gaffe.

"In Myanmar, we must address the tragedy caused by the military coup which is increasingly undermining regional stability," he said, calling for the release of political prisoners and a return to democracy. Critics of US strategy for the region point to its lack of an economic component after former President Donald Trump withdrew from the trade deal now known as the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership in 2017.

A White House readout said the envisaged network would also"define our shared objectives around trade facilitation" as well as standards for decarbonisation and clean energy.

Great track record. Just simmer down and help your own party. Never mind Asia. We can manage without your help.😂🤣

No best he stands helping his country pay its $30+ trillion debt and combat hyperinflation. Asia doesn’t need anyone’s help especially his country’s. What with its great track record in only helping itself — America first — he thinks we’re as simple minded as his citizens?😂🤣

Wrong. They want to sabre rattle & be disruptive because that’s the only card they can play having been beaten by China. China built first tokamak FUSION reactor space ship that can take voyage to Mars in 29 days. America can’t so they instigate Taiwan. China too mature for this.

Welcome Mr.President. We do not trust ASEAN. Please take care.

To use this forum to hit out China is weak and inappropriate.

CNA becoming more American everyday.

taiwan will be very free from your nonsense if you stop messing around
