SINGAPORE: Yeo Jia Min clinched bronze for Singapore in the women's singles at the 2022 Commonwealth Games on Sunday after overcoming a spirited battle from Scotland's Kirsty Gilmour.

The 23-year-old's bronze is Singapore's first medal in the event since 2002. At that edition of the Games in Manchester, Li Li won gold for Singapore. In the men's singles bronze medal match, Yeo's compatriot Jason Teh missed out on a medal after he was beaten 15-21, 18-21 by India's world number 13 Srikanth Kidambi.

World number 87 Teh had faced India’s Lakshya Sen earlier in the semi-finals. Teh fell 10-21,21-18,16-21 to the world number 10.
