At 0203 GMT, The S&P/ASX 200 index was up 0.1 per cent to 6,583.10. The benchmark closed 0.4 per cent lower on Monday. The country's metals and mining sector, which are heavily dependent on China, lost as much as 0.4 per cent before recouping some losses to trade flat.Meanwhile, Papua New Guinea-focused Oil Search propelled the energy sub-index 0.3 per cent higher, despite a slump in global crude prices on demand concerns.
