SYDNEY: Shop workers, tourist guides and barbers are among dozens of groups who must get COVID-19 shots to work in Australia's Northern Territory, officials announced Wednesday , unveiling one of the world's most far-reaching vaccine mandates.

The vast Northern Territory stretches from tropical Darwin on the Timor Sea to the dusty Outback settlements of Alice Springs and Uluru - an area three times the size of Spain.Although more than 80 per cent of the region's adult population has received at least one dose, Gunner said there were"patches of concern" and communities where people are hesitant or refusing the vaccine."You can't hold people down and stick a needle in their arm.

"You work in hospitality - you need to get the jab. Retail or a supermarket - you need to get the jab. If you are behind the counter at a bank or receptionist, you need to get the jab," said Gunner. Indonesia's capital has announced fines for refusing a vaccine and Fiji has a policy of"no jab, no job" for all government workers. But the Northern Territory's rules go further than most democracies.

India recommends homemade COVID-19 vaccine for kids aged 2 and aboveBENGALURU (Reuters) -India on Tuesday recommended emergency use of Bharat Biotech's COVID-19 shot in children below 12 years of age, making the vaccine maker the first in the country to get such an approval after a review of its trial data for the 2-18 age-group. The decision comes as India shifts its focus to vaccinating children against the coronavirus, having already rolled out more than 950 million doses to adults among its population of nearly 1.4 billion. Bharat Biotech's Covaxin, which uses an inactivated coronavirus with an immunity booster, is among the three shots that are being used in India as part of the vaccination drive for adults. Erm, it’s an *indigenously developed* vaccine approved by India’s equivalent of FDA. Stop calling it ‘homemade’, people might get the impression it’s moonshine made in someone’s kitchen 😂 Reuters

Convincing the doubters: Why some younger people are reluctant to get the COVID-19 vaccineWhile the focus has been on getting older people to get vaccinated against COVID-19, there are also some younger people who are reluctant to get the jab. CNA speaks to hesitant individuals, including some who have now decided to get the vaccination. Younger people are more susceptible to myocarditis. Don't blame them. Younger people are more susceptible to myocarditis after vaccination. Don't blame them. And you all mandate the use of a new technology that you have no idea what it does in the short/long term? Is that lawful? Very convincing that there's no vaccine induced death and injuries reported up till now as well.
