Singapore shares climb 0.1% on Monday

SINGAPORE shares regained their footing to climb higher on Monday, with the Straits Times Index gaining 0.13 per cent or 4.23 points to 3,206.27.

The field was almost evenly matched, with 196 decliners to 190 gainers. Turnover on the bourse stood at roughly 1.55 billion securities worth S$1.06 billion. 

Actively traded shares included blue-chip Genting Singapore, which lost 2.7 per cent or S$0.03 to S$1.08 with 41.77 million shares traded. Thai Beverage was another active. The counter pared 1.39 per cent or S$0.01 to S$0.71 with 41.67 million shares traded.

Among active index stocks, financials also climbed. DBS Group Holdings gained 0.25 per cent or S$0.06 to S$24.36, United Overseas Bank put on 0.4 per cent or S$0.10 to S$25.34, while OCBC Bank added 0.44 per cent or S$0.05 to S$11.53.
