UPDATE: 35 new COVID cases in Singapore; 2 new clusters

SINGAPORE — The Ministry of Health on Sunday confirmed 35 new COVID-19 cases in Singapore, taking the country's total case count to 66,478., bringing the total in the city-state to 49. They are a 91-year-old female permanent resident and an 87-year-old Singaporean man. Of the new cases, 29 are locally transmitted infections, including 17 unlinked infections. The ministry did not provide a breakdown of how many of them are in the community or are dormitory residents.

Both new clusters are named after case numbers – 68669 and 68799 – and are each linked to three infections. The ministry did not provide details on the two cases as well as their linked infections. It added that the seven-day moving average number of all linked community cases and all unlinked community cases are 21.0 and 13.3 respectively.22 require oxygen supplementation; 7 in ICU

Of those who have fallen very ill, 23 are patients above the age of 60, of whom 18 are completely unvaccinated or partially vaccinated, said the MOH., 15 others who tested positive for the virus were determined to have died from unrelated causes, including three whose deaths were attributed to a heart attack and another four whose deaths were attributed to coronary heart disease.
