3 seniors arrested, including woman who was taken to hospital, after fight along Arumugam Road

SINGAPORE — The police arrested three people on Wednesday (Aug 10) for their alleged involvement in a case of affray along Arumugam Road near MacPherson.

In reply to TODAY’s queries on Thursday, the police said that they were alerted to the fight at around 6pm on Wednesday.

A 69-year-old man and two women, aged 65 and 71, were arrested.

They added that the 71-year-old woman was taken conscious to the hospital.

TODAY understands that the fight occurred at 15 Arumugam Road, which is the address of the Lorong Koo Chye Sheng Hong Temple.

In a video posted on the Facebook page called Beh Chia Lor – Singapore Road, a fight is seen taking place among three people under a white tent as some people looked on and others tried to stop the scuffle.

In the video, a woman in red shirt can be seen throwing a plastic chair, while two other persons — a man and another woman in black — are seen retaliating using plastic chairs as well.

The woman in black then lunges towards the woman in the red shirt, hitting her in the face, while the man appears to rain blows on the same woman’s head.

Two other people at the scene are seen pulling the man away, as others tried to separate the two women.

The woman in red, now with a bloodied face, is seen grabbing onto the other woman’s black top.

A man in a white polo T-shirt is seen intervening by separating the two women and pushing the woman in red shirt back against a railing as the other man and woman walk away.

A voice-over in Mandarin in the video claimed that the man and woman in black are husband and wife. The police made no statement on this point.

“Aiyoh, bleeding. The woman bleeding, you see? Her face is bleeding,” the voice-over goes.

Police investigations are ongoing.
