Singapore Post Limited (SingPost) is launching a set of stamps to welcome the Year of the Tiger. The set of two stamps features graphical illustrations of the tiger, which is the third animal in the Chinese Zodiac order. The artist behind the illustrations for the entire series is Ms Lim An-Ling, the designer behind the 2019 Singapore Bicentennial stamp sets. An established animator and illustrator, Ms Lim has been designing stamps for SingPost since 2013.

This year’s stamps are part of a new 12-year series that kicked off in 2020 with stamps commemorating the Year of the Rat. According to popular belief, people born in the Year of the Tiger are known to be brave, competitive, confident yet unpredictable. While mostly charming and well-liked by others, they are known to be sometimes impetuous, irritable, and over-indulgent.

Famous personalities born in the year of the Tiger include Queen Elizabeth II, entertainer Lady Gaga, singer Shawn Mendes, Hollywood actor Leonardo DiCaprio, as well as Singapore TV personalities Desmond Tan and Rebecca Lim.

Zodiac Tiger Series Collection

The set of stamps comes in two denominations: 1st Local (30 cents) and S$1.40. The pre-cancelled First Day Cover affixed with the complete set of stamps and a special Zodiac Tiger postmark will be sold at S$3.10. The Presentation Pack containing both stamps is priced at S$4.15.

Postage labels bought at select SAM kiosks at the General Post Office and Suntec Post Office will feature a limited-run tiger-themed Chinese New Year design from today onwards. There will also be a special Collector’s Sheet with a commemorative S$10 stamp. Priced at S$18.80, the Collector’s Sheet will be sold in a folder along with a set of eight red packets. The design is a modern take on the Chinese tradition of paper-cutting, one of China’s oldest and most popular folk arts that dates back to the second century.

The Collector’s Sheet is designed by Mr Andy Koh, a multi-disciplinary designer who has also designed several stamp issues since 2000.

Other gifts available include a specially designed diagonal decorative stamp encased in a gold-edged frame, as well as a series of MyStamp tiger-themed products.

You can find the tiger-themed products at all post offices, philatelic stores and counters, as well as online at shop.singpost.com, while stocks last.
