Vivian Chow, 54, Just Met Up With '70s Pop Idol Agnes Chan, 66, And Netizens Are Calling Them “Ageless Queens”
We all know Vivian looks young but can you believe Agnes is 12 years older than her?
Those who are, um, above a certain age or simply have an inclination towards old school Asian entertainment would be familiar with Agnes Chan, the Hongkong-born singer who gained popularity in the '70s after releasing her debut Japanese single ‘Poppy Flower’.
Now 66, Agnes, who is married to her former manager Tsutomu Kaneko and has three sons, is still active in showbiz and divides her time between Hongkong and Japan.
She recently held a two-day concert in Hongkong celebrating her 50th anniversary in showbiz and is scheduled to have another one in Japan next month. But before jetting off, she took the opportunity to catch up with some old friends in the city.
On Tuesday (Nov 30), Hongkong singer-actress Vivian Chow, 54, took to Instagram to share some photos from her gathering with Agnes and another friend called Muimui.
“Many thanks to my senior, Miss Agnes Chan, for meeting me and Muimui, and for sharing so much about her life struggles, which encouraged me a lot,” wrote Vivian. “I know Agnes still has many missions to complete. May our Heavenly Father grant her strength and guidance to do His will.”
She then wished Agnes a successful 50th anniversary concert in Japan and included a shout-out for the latter’s new Cantonese song.
Agnes also shared the same shots on her socials and wrote in a mix of Chinese and English: “I’m thankful to have Vivian and Muimui in this world. Brave and beautiful sisters. It is a blessing to know them. Thank you Vivian and Muimui for being you! Love you.”
However, we think we really have to give it to Agnes, who is 12 years — that’s one full Chinese zodiac cycle! — older than Vivian, something we wouldn’t have been able to tell just by looking at their pics together.
Agnes certainly has the brains to go with her beauty and talent.
In the late '70s, she took a break from singing to study developmental psychology at the University of Toronto before going on to receive a PhD in Education from the prestigious Stanford University.
And her three boys Arthur, Alexander, and Apollo, who are now in their 20s and 30s, are just as brilliant as she is: All of them attended Stanford University as well. Talk about a high-achieving family!
