SINGAPORE — The Ministry of Health (MOH) on Tuesday (22 June) confirmed 18 new COVID-19 cases in Singapore, taking the country's total case count to 62,448.

Fifteen are local cases in the community. Of them, three – out of ten linked cases – had been quarantined earlier.

Tuesday marks the 58th consecutive day with local cases reported.

The three remaining cases are imported, of whom one is a Singaporean and another is a permanent resident who returned from India. The third imported case – a special pass holder who is a sea crew member – arrived from Brazil on a vessel and had remained on board until he was conveyed to a hospital.

"Amongst the new cases today, seven are asymptomatic, and were detected from our proactive screening and surveillance, while 11 were symptomatic," said the MOH.

The ministry also identified two new clusters – 90 Redhill Close and "Case 64233" – as well as announced the closure of the "Case 63236" and "Case 63714" cluster. This brings the current number of active COVID-19 clusters in Singapore to 38.

The five unlinked community cases are:

  • a 26-year-old female PR who works as an analyst at Deutsche Bank

  • a 77-year-old Singaporean man who is a retiree (fully vaccinated)

  • a 79-year-old Singaporean man who is a retiree and Redhill Close resident

  • an 82-year-old Singaporean woman who is a retiree and was detected when she sought medical treatment at Gleneagles Hospital for an unrelated condition (received first dose of vaccine)

  • a 36-year-old Malaysian man who works as a driver at Omni Aquatic Supplies

Separately, there are two cases who are linked to other infections, but are not considered part of any active COVID-19 cluster in Singapore. They are a 24-year-old female China national who works as an analyst at Axis Specialty Limited and a 23-year-old Singaporean man who is a student at the Singapore Institute of Management

The ministry noted that the number of new cases in the community has increased from 60 in the week before to 104 in the past week. The number of unlinked cases in the community has also increased from 17 in the week before to 21 in the past week.

The 90 Redhill Close cluster was first linked to a 79-year-old Singaporean man who is a retiree and was confirmed to have COVID-19 on 21 June. The "Case 64233" cluster is named after a 41-year-old Filipino woman who is a foreign domestic worker and was confirmed to have COVID-19 on 14 June. The woman has received her first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

The third case added to the cluster is her household contact – a 52-year-old male PR who works as a consultant at Syndicate Road and is fully vaccinated.
