Rookie Korean actress Jo Hana committed suicide after she was reportedly cheated of 2mil won (S$2,400) in a phone scam. She was 23.

Last week, an Instagram user with the handle @plusian_don shared a selfie with Hana, along with this caption: Holding the dreams of becoming an actor, the kind-hearted Hana became a flower and flew to heaven at the age of 23. She was cheated of two million won in a phone scam and suffered in loneliness. She decided to choose a painless life.”

It is not known when or how she took her own life.

Hana, who started out as an influencer, had a really tough life. She revealed during an appearance on Korean variety show Ask Us Anything Fortune Teller, that because her mother had divorced her abusive dad, she could not get a birth certificate.

As a result, she was not able to attend school and so had to be home-schooled. With the help of a lawyer, Hana finally received her birth certificate when she was 19 and went on to take her graduation exam.

Even though she was abused by him, Hana still wanted to meet her father. When he finally got in touch with her, it was only to ask for financial support.

Before becoming an actress, Hana used to work in a club to make ends meet. And like many in showbiz, her job opportunities dwindled greatly because of the ongoing pandemic.
