Taiwan-based Singaporean singer-host Huang Jinglun injured his knee after suffering a fall while filming a show on Monday (Apr 11). He took to Facebook to share a pic of his wound, saying that he’s okay and that accidents are inevitable.

Two days later, the 37-year-old uploaded another post with an update on his injury, and how his wife had scolded him for not getting the wound treated.

He explained that it was late in the night by the time filming wrapped, and his only options were to visit a night clinic or the emergency department. And since he could still walk, he figured it wasn’t that serious so he went home without seeking medical attention.

“Since I could still walk, it shouldn’t be a bone fracture, maybe just a broken ligament,” he said.

“I really didn't want to go to the emergency department and take up their quota. Then I will have to get an X-ray, and if there is nothing wrong, the doctor or medical staff will think that I am wasting resources,” he explained, adding that he did have worries that the injury could become serious later on.

1 of 3 It does look kinda deep

Even though Jinglun has health insurance in Taiwan, he felt he shouldn’t abuse it and get treatment for everything.

“Maybe it’s because I grew up in Singapore, where medical care is not cheap, so even though this injury could potentially be very serious, [treatment] has become something that can be ‘delayed’,” he said.

The most painful thing for him at the moment is that he cannot kneel to change his son’s diapers.

Many netizens have left comments on Jinglun’s post, urging him to go to the hospital to get the injury checked as soon as possible.

You worry too much! The emergency department is there to treat patients regardless of how big or small the problem. You are not wasting medical resources if you need it,” wrote one netizen, while another said: “Sometimes a minor injury can become serious if it drags on for a long time. It is better to get it checked at the clinic or hospital for a peace of mind.”

There were also others who told him to spare a thought for his wife. “It will be very hard on your wife if you can’t take care of your baby due to your injury. Taking care of yourself is more important than being considerate for the hospital,” said his fan.
