Britney Spears's mom seems to be on the same page as the rest of us: She misses seeing her daughter perform. On Friday, Spears posted that her mom, Lynne Spears, sent her a video of her singing years ago.
"Geez … My mom sent this to me and reminded me that I can sing 🎶😂🙈🎤 !!!!," she wrote. "She said 'You never sing anymore … you need to again !!!!' I've actually never watched this performance … it's definitely from a while ago !!!! It's from one of the first trips I took alone ... mostly I just remember saying 'WOW Singapore' 🇸🇬😍!!!!!"
As E! notes, Spears last appeared on stage in late 2018 at the Park MGM resort in Las Vegas. In early 2019, she announced an "indefinite work hiatus" and canceled "Britney: Domination," her residency that was set to appear at the Vegas resort that year.
"I don't even know where to start with this, because this is so tough for me to say," she wrote on Twitter then. "I will not be performing my new show Domination. I've been looking forward to this show and seeing all of you this year, so doing this breaks my heart. However, it's important to always put your family first…and that's the decision I had to make. A couple of months ago, my father was hospitalized and almost died. We're all so grateful that he came out of it alive, but he still has a long road ahead of him. I had to make the difficult decision to put my full focus and energy on my family at this time. I hope you all can understand. Since then, Spears's dad, Jamie, has become the subject of a New York Times documentary Framing Britney Spears. The film follows Jamie's conservatorship, or the legal right he has over his 39-year-old daughter's life and finances.
"Dear media, try not to repeat the mistakes of your past," Britney's sister, Jamie Lynn, wrote on her Instagram story after the film's release, per Entertainment Tonight. "Look where that got us. Do better. Everyone you meet is fighting a battle you know nothing about. Be kind. Always."
